This morning’s closing plenary session panel featured remarks from (right) Samantha Stubbs, UK Member of Youth Parliament, with collegial support from Samantha Coggins (far left in panelist photo). I goofed on getting Ms. Stubbs’ remarks recorded (aaarrrggghhh!) but I did manage to capture the audio from these panelists:

Leslie Reynolds, Executive Director of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS)

9 minutes, 18 seconds

Cllr. Matthew Ellis, Chair of ICELE

11 minutes, 54 seconds

Dylan Jeffrey, DCLG, Symposium Director

5 minutes, 7 seconds

Its such a shame we didn’t manage to capture Samantha’s remarks as she was a real star. For those of you who didn’t hear her eloquent speech, it was a really heartfelt thanks to the Symposium for giving her and her peers the opportunity to come to the event. They loved being able to speak and discuss issues with top decision makers and had felt over the few days that their voices were being heard.

Samantha’s words were extremely touching and I’m sure all the delegates who had interacted with the UKYP over the past few days were moved.

However, words of thanks also need to be extended in the other direction towards the UKYP. The youth delegates brought a fresh dimension to many of the sessions with their well thought out views and their ability to ask thought provoking questions. To me their keen participation helped to truly make the event a success!

I agree, Susie, Samantha was quite eloquent and thoughtful with her remarks. Now I even feel worse!
